Immediately after the unveiling of the software hack by the iPhone Dev Team on September 11 last year, its members have been working to streamline the process. I témoignais earlier that the first procedure is somewhat complicated, involving the installation of a terminal SSH to type lines and lines of commands without much know what you are doing (all stages, tested here). I said that the members have worked to streamline the process and one of them has created an archive containing everything you need to unlock your iPhone. The stages of this new procedure, which I tested, are as follows:
* Make sure your iPhone is version 1.0.2;
* "Jailbreak 'er your phone, which means giving access to the file system of the iPhone;
* Enable the phone with a small automated file included in the archive;
* Take a Windows software (iBrickr) to install the application Unlock.pxl;
* Roll this application from your phone and looking at the screen for 20 minutes;
* Use the phone in Rogers or Fido!
The link to the complete procedure can be found here. This is the one I recommend for the moment.
There is talk already on Engadget a new application that should take 3-5 minutes instead of twenty-created by the same team, but it is reported its instability so I do not put to the test yet. Still, it should be noted that you can always save an iPhone in the restaurant, if something goes wrong.
